Bareboat Charter Or Crewed Charter? Which Is Right For You?

If one wishes to take a sailboat or a yacht on rent, he would need to contact a company which gives out sailboats or yachts on rent with the activity called Yacht chartering and a yacht charter being the primary rented commodity. With many people and companies offering to explore the seas in abandon, yacht charters are increasingly finding popularity in places like Greece, Croatia etc. Needless to say, Yacht charters are a popular concept in places which are blessed with good and beautiful sea resources. In earlier days, yacht charters used to be more or less a vacation activity, which has now found plenty of seamen in the corporate world, with a lot of companies using yacht charters for team building exercises for their employees amongst many other functions which they think of.

There are mainly two types of Yacht charters : Bareboat charter and Crewed charter. Bareboat charter is a charter where the person who wants the boat, rents it and owns to captain the boat. Bareboat yacht charter does not mean that only one person can travel on the yacht, though that would be fun and adventure for the person. Many bareboat yachters carry multiple people on them. Just so that people who control the sea boats do a good job of it and more importantly have their lives secured, basic course in seamanship is taught for all the freshers to sea and equip them with knowledge enough for them to control a boat.

Bareboat charters are sometimes provided by a skipper who controls the boat and are known as skippered charters. A crewed yacht charter, conceptually is at the opposite pole of Bareboat charter. These kind of charters come with a crew. One can have a husband-wife combination leading the boat with plenty of crew, almost up to 300 at their disposal depending on how big the boat is. Crew members include engineers, stewards, deckhands and other personnel who may control the working of critical components of the boat. A lot of factors go behind determining how expensive the yacht charter would be. The primary factors would be the size of the boat and the duration for which the boat is required for.

The secondary factors would be the number of crew member required in the boat, the class of the boat and the geographic location where the boat is required. Enough thought is also given to the class of the boat which is also a price determining factor. Depending upon a trade-off of all these parameters, the yacht chartering activity is priced. The price of a yacht charter ranges from $1000 to $25,000 taking into consideration all these factors. So, if you are all geared up to explore the seas, yacht charter is the best option for you.
